When designing steel moment frames it is important to consider all aspects of the design and construction process in selecting the beam-column connection. DuraFuse Frames is a proprietary moment connection that is fully field-bolted which provides for quick erection. The connection configuration and the design tools developed by DuraFuse engineers result in a frame that is more economical than other connections. This presentation provides a description of this innovative moment frame solution. High seismic solutions (R=8) provide economy, performance and repairability (i.e. resilience). Justin Marshall is the President of DuraFuse Frames. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from BYU and his PhD from Virginia Tech. His career has included both professional practice and academic positions where he focused on seismic and wind analysis and design of structures. He has also been fortunate to be involved in code committees, and post-disaster structural reconnaissance missions.
