Premier resource for practicing structural engineers

Date/Time: March 11, 2026 12:00 pm Central

The new patent-pending HDUE™ holdown and SABR™ anchor bolt from Simpson Strong-Tie® provide a stronger, faster way to secure shearwall end studs to concrete foundations. The HDUE is a one-to-one replacement for the industry-leading HDU, and secures shearwalls, braced-wall panels, and other lateral-force-resisting applications in wood construction. SABR is a cast-in-place bolt that provides concrete anchorage for attaching a holdown.

Join us for an in-depth look at how these two next-generation products were developed, the rigorous testing the R&D team conducted to ensure these innovative products exceeded the strength of the previous designs and how they work together as an ideal solution for single and multistory buildings.

Attendees will learn about the innovative features of the HDUE, including angled fasteners, extruded seat, optimized hole patterns and how they can potentially see savings with this new product, as well as the features of SABR, including its one-piece sweep design, versatile threaded section and multiple diameter options.

By the end of the session, engineers will have a better understanding of:

  • How the new HDUE angled fasteners improve holdown performance
  • How the new HDUE backplate increases fastener performance – The benefit of the tear drop holes.
  • How the new SABR design increases load rating
  • How the new SABR accommodates different sill plate sizes.
