Premier resource for practicing structural engineers

The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) and SBCRI are seeking a qualified candidate to fill an open position on the SBCRI Board, an independent board intended to oversee SBCRI’s Quality Assurance Program and act as the board of review for any decertification appeals filed with SBCRI.

The ideal candidate must not be currently employed within the component manufacturing or adjacent industries but should possess strong working knowledge of ANSI/TPI 1, component manufacturing processes, and/or accreditation processes. The board member must be able to participate in a few meetings each year, either virtually or in person.

The three-member Board is composed of professionals with deep technical expertise in metal plate connected wood trusses and building components. SBCRI Board members must be fully independent from any commercial or financial interests related to component manufacturing. They may not be affiliated with companies that manufacture metal connector plates, metal plate connected wood trusses, structural lumber, manufactured lumber (e.g., LVL, PSL), or truss design services, nor be an owner, officer, or employee of a metal plate connected truss design firm.

Eligible candidates may include professional engineers, wood technologists/scientists, former regulatory officials from one of the model building codes or state mandated building code agencies, academicians with experience working with structural building components, or former owners or executives of a business that was previously involved in the manufacturing of building components.

This is a meaningful opportunity to serve the component industry and help maintain a high level of quality.
