MAPEI Corporation has introduced Mapecube GEO, a chloride-free, strength-enhancing liquid admixture that was developed to optimize the hydration process of low-CO₂-emission binders in both concrete and mortar applications. Designed to support the industry’s shift toward more sustainable construction practices, Mapecube GEO enhances the performance of alternative binder systems while maintaining the strength, reliability and workability that is required on today’s jobsites.
“Reducing the carbon footprint of concrete is a top priority for many producers, but performance can’t be compromised in the process,” said Andrew Fulkerson, MAPEI Corporation’s Product Line Manager for Admixtures for Concrete. “Mapecube GEO was specifically engineered to improve the hydration efficiency of low-CO₂ binders, helping producers achieve higher early strength and more consistent performance in both precast and ready-mix applications.”
Mapecube GEO can be used in virtually any concrete-mix design but is particularly well suited for alkaline-activated concretes that are made with slag-based binders that contain low or no clinker. In these applications, the admixture supports faster strength development at early ages, which can reduce or even eliminate the need for steam curing in certain production environments. This advantage helps optimize production cycles and enables more rapid and efficient demolding, making Mapecube GEO an ideal solution for plants seeking to improve output while lowering energy consumption.
“Mapecube GEO represents an important advancement in our portfolio of environmentally conscious construction solutions,” said Gerald LaPier, MAPEI Corporation’s Director of Construction Chemicals. “Its ability to perform in temperatures below 50°F [10°C] and its compatibility with modern concrete technologies make it an extremely versatile option for producers who are balancing sustainability goals with high-performance expectations.”
Produced using a MAPEI patented process, Mapecube GEO is composed of nanoparticles in an aqueous suspension and is compatible with traditional concrete admixtures as well as polyether carboxylates (PCE)–based superplasticizers. This compatibility makes integration into existing mix designs seamless, allowing producers to enhance strength and efficiency without sacrificing workability or consistency.
“Whether the application is precast structural elements or ready-mix concrete for complex pours, Mapecube GEO delivers reliable, repeatable results,” Fulkerson added. “It gives producers a powerful tool to push innovation forward while maintaining control over quality and performance.”
With the introduction of Mapecube GEO, MAPEI continues to support the concrete industry’s evolution toward lower-carbon solutions that are both practical and performance-driven.
