MAPEI Corporation has announced the launch of Mapeair N, a natural air-entraining agent that is designed to provide a stable air-void system in both plastic and hardened concrete. This consistency is essential for producing concrete that can withstand freeze/thaw cycles, making Mapeair N an ideal solution for infrastructure, paving and other applications where durability is critical. The admixture meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM C260 and AASHTO M154, ensuring compliance with widely recognized industry standards.
“Achieving reliable freeze/thaw durability starts with creating and maintaining a uniform air-void system, and that’s exactly what Mapeair N delivers,” said Andrew Fulkerson, MAPEI Corporation’s Product Line Manager for Admixtures for Concrete. “By using natural chemistries, this admixture provides consistent bubble size and spacing in hardened concrete, giving producers confidence that their mixes will perform as intended, even in demanding environmental conditions.”
Mapeair N improves the performance and workability of concrete in a variety of applications. It helps reduce bleeding and segregation, enhances finishing, minimizes surface imperfections such as “bug holes” and supports smoother, more uniform surfaces. Additionally, it aids in the pumping of lean concrete mixes and facilitates the placement of low-slump concrete mixes, including paving applications. The product is effective when used with low-alkali cements, fly ash and other supplementary cementitious materials, providing versatility across a wide range of concrete formulations.
“Mapeair N reflects MAPEI’s ongoing commitment to advancing concrete technology with solutions that are both reliable and sustainable,” said Gerald LaPier, MAPEI Corporation’s Director of Construction Chemicals. “It offers contractors, producers and specifiers a high-performance option that ensures durability, improves workability and supports long-lasting, resilient infrastructure.”
