The Charles Pankow Foundation (CPF), along with several partners, announces the award of a new research grant aimed at understanding the impact of the increasing market penetration of electric vehicles. This shift has created a situation where current design live loads for parking may no longer adequately reflect real-world loadings.
Principal investigators for this research are Dr. Ross Corotis of the University of Colorado Boulder and Dr. Sanjay R. Arwade of the University of Massachusetts. The ASCE 7-28 Dead & Live Load Subcommittee of ASCE/SEI, the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY), the New York City Department of Buildings, and other key organizations have already committed to supporting this important and timely research.
