The Burj Dubai Tower
The Burj Dubai tower, currently under construction in Dubai, UAE, will be over 600 meters tall when completed, and thus will be the world’s tallest building by a wide margin. For a building of this height and slenderness, wind forces and the resulting motions in the upper levels become dominant factors in the structural design. An extensive program of wind tunnel tests and other studies were undertaken to determine wind loading on this unique structure
.

Ingredients of High-Rise Design
Recipe for a structural challenge: take one basic office tower, ‘super size’ to world’s tallest proportions, carve into a unique shape, fan (in typhoons) and shake well (in earthquakes)…Serves thousands (of tenants and visitors)...This is Taipei 101 in Taiwan, Republic of China. With a height of 1667 feet (508 m) in 101 stories, it is currently the world’s tallest building and represents a veritable smorgasbord of the design issues that apply to many high rise buildings today.

Constructability
Constructability has been defined by the Construction Industry Institute as the optimum use of construction knowledge and experience in planning, design, procurement and field operations to achieve overall project objectives. Those who advocate it as a concept claim that it can bring real benefits to all involved — clients, engineers, architects, contractors and users.
