Some Current Trends in High Rise Structural Design
The usual analytical assumptions
inherent in many of the commercially available computer programs are no longer accurate for today’s new architectural forms. Deformations in previously assumed rigid elements have become an important aspect in the overall behavior and analysis of these elements, and must be addressed in the design.

America’s Showcase Hangar
The tremendous scope of the Smithsonian’s new National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center meant numerous challenges to Structural Engineers.

Philadelphia City Hall
The Philadelphia City Hall Envelope Renovation is a multi-phase project.
With an area of over 1,000,000 square feet and about 700 rooms, City Hall is the largest masonry bearing wall building and largest municipal building in the world. The north façade and the tower were completed in the fall of 2003 and most of the west façade was completed in the fall of 2004. The Phase 3 project began in early 2005.

Fallingwater is No Longer Falling
Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece is no longer “falling” and will continue to stand guard for many years over the waterfall from which it takes its name.
