Construction Material Cost Volatility…
The United States market for construction materials has exhibited significant volatility since late 2003… the last twelve months bear more resemblance to a trip to an amusement park than orderly commerce. And like any amusement park ride, each rider needs to make certain decisions based upon the experience of the ride.

1-Way Concrete Floor Systems
The fundamental method of analysis and design of concrete beam-girder and column systems has changed very little in the past few decades. The standard practice of idealizing the floor system as a set of single beam lines for analysis and design may be lacking in several areas and a more appropriate 3D floor analysis would offer the following advantages.

Concrete and Architectural Innovation
Concrete is by far the most widely used building material worldwide, consumed at an estimated rate of over 5 billion cubic yards per year. It is easily taken for granted… Thanks to its inherent strength, versatility, and almost limitless potential to assume different shapes and textures, concrete today is a vital medium for inventive designers exploring new forms of architectural expression.

Architectural Cast-in-Place Concrete
Concrete is used in all building construction. When concrete is used to create anything more than the functional support of the building, it begins to move toward Architectural Concrete. ACI 303 Guide to Cast-in-Place Architectural Concrete Practice is a solid reference that assists the designer when constructing Architectural Concrete in a variety of applications.
