MMFX Steel Corporation announced that the International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has updated its Evaluation Report ESR-2107 to include two additional MMFX product lines — ChrōmX 4100 ASTM A1035 CM and ChrōmX 2100 ASTM A1035 CL high strength, corrosion resistant reinforcing steels. The report, which already included ChrōmX 9100 ASTM A1035 CS at its first issuance in 2013, provides design guidance in compliance with the code for using ChrōmX high strength reinforcing steels up to 100 ksi (690 MPa) in yield strength.

The International Code Council (ICC) is supporting the Saudi Building Code National Committee’s (SBCNC) efforts to update the Saudi Building Code utilizing current provisions of the 2015 International Codes, including the International Building Code, International Plumbing Code, and others in the I-Code family.

An agreement was signed by his Excellency Dr. Saad Othman Al-Kasabi, Chairman of the SBCNC and Governor of Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, and by Mark Johnson, ICC’s Executive Vice President and Director of Business Development.

The Canadian province of British Columbia, through its Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (Ministry), recently updated its Bridge Standards and Procedures Manual Supplement to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) S6-14 to include ASTM A1035 high strength, corrosion resistant reinforcing steels for use on Ministry concrete bridge structures. The Ministry delineates the rebar requirements for each of its bridge classifications within its standards, including ASTM A1035 for many of its roadways.

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES)—the experts in building product evaluation and certification—has issued ESR-3631 to Structurlam Products LP for their CrossLam® cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, providing evidence CrossLam® CLT panels comply with the code requirements of the 2015 International Building Codes® (IBC) and International Residential Codes® (IRC).  Cross laminated timber (CLT) is a relatively new technology involving the efficient use of the timber resource in manufacturing “mass timber” building components.  CLT structures often experience faster construction times and also result in net carbon negative buildings.
